Career Development and Training…
Our graduate training is structured around a 5-phase career development programme, which is designed to equip you with the skills and experience you need to become an effective team leader.

Phase 1: Graduate Trainee
The first phase of our programme is tailored to giving you a sound understanding of Pendragon's central functions based at our head office in Nottingham. This gives you the opportunity to develop your career development plan. Throughout this phase you will work with the company Directors and rotate through the business experiencing each area, and undertaking a wide range of special projects of which you will have full responsibility.

Phase 2: Dealership Experience 
You will now have an excellent understanding of the central functions within Pendragon PLC therefore; your training in phase 2 will focus on a different aspect of the motor industry, as you will undertake a customer-facing role within one of our dealerships in the UK. You will gain a sound understanding of each function within the dealership – sales, service, parts and accounts. This hands-on knowledge will assist you in gaining credibility for future leadership roles.

Phase 3: Assistant to Franchise Group Leader
In phase 3 of your career development programme, you will work closely with a Franchise Group Leader, taking on large areas of operational responsibility. During this phase you will undertake more advanced projects, which will involve implementation of your recommendations into a department, and you will be accountable for the success of this project and measuring its impact on the business.

 

Phase 4: Trainee Leader
In this position you will be responsible and accountable for effective communication within a dealership or department, this will allow you to fully understand the workings of a dealership in a role of responsibility. During this role you will take responsibility for the performance and development of team members within the business.

 

Phase 5: Leadership Role 
You will now be in the fifth or sixth year of your programme and you will have built up a strong relationship with your co-ordinator and have identified your selected area of career. We, as a company, will provide all the resource, support and guidance we can to help you achieve your goals.
